No green hats in China

Recently, my group company launched the new service in Singapore and Shanghai. The employees there also wear the same uniform as in Japan, but there is one different thing.

The color of the cap.

Here,  the color is green, which is one of the corporate colors.  But they wear beige caps in those two countries. Today, the other PR person told me why the color is different and I found it very interesting.

In China “wearing a green hat”  is an expression that Chinese use when a woman cheats on her husband or boyfriend. This apparently dates back to the Ming dynasty when the relatives of prostitutes were forced to wear green hats.  –randomwire.com
